The founder and owner of Fruit Storage & Advice is Frank van de Geijn. Born on a mixed fruit production company in the Betuwe, the Netherlands, Frank always enjoys working at the company owned by his parents and uncle. Here, he learns the whims of agricultural entrepreneurship.
Agricultural business- and organisational skills
After following a study at the ‘Rijks Hogere Tuinbouwschool’ in Utrecht on agricultural business- and organisational skills, Frank is hired by DLV as a technical advisor. He learns the beautiful profession of storage technology consultant from the “Wimmen” (Van der Bliek and Schmitz) and he notices that with self-education and asking critical questions a lot can be learned. By doing this, experiences from the past can be used to optimize the present.
Wageningen UR
In 2002 Frank transfers from a commercial consultancy agency (DLV) to ATO (Agricultural-technological Research), later changed to Wageningen Food & Biobased Research, part of Wageningen UR. The time in Wageningen brings a lot of knowledge about research and deepening expertise in storage technology. One of Frank’s main tasks is making sure that storage research remains aimed at and relevant to the extensive national and international network of big professional fruit storage facilities as well as to smaller, self-storing producers. By compiling questions from throughout the network, great and relevant research projects were realised. Because of Frank’s lectures, newsletters and articles, the agricultural sector is constantly provided with appropriate information.

At the end of 2023 and after more than 30 years of employment, Frank makes the choice to pursue his beautiful job as storage consultant as a self-employed consultant.
